Movie's Reviews

Imageless: Canvas
Producers: Sameer Gaikwad, Ramakant GaikwadWriter, Director: Shivdarshan-AmitStars: Sameer Dharmadhikari, Madhura Welankar, Vijay Kenkre, Abhijit Satam, Sunil Deo
Three murders, one after the other, by a mysterious hammer man has ACP Aditya puzzled. Each time the murderer leaves behind a canvas that leaves a hint about the next murder.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
The screen goes blank very often trying to create a moment of intrigue in this supposed thriller. But it comes so often that the viewer is exasperated. The camera angles and close-ups that should ideally have the viewer sitting on the edge of his seat do nothing of that sort. The performances are also not worth mentioning except for Abhijit Satam’s. Generally it is the background score of a thriller that keeps the film’s momentum but here it leaves a lot to be desired. It is surprising that this is a film from the banner of Swadeshi Entertainment, whose Dombivli Fast won the National award in 2005. Unfortunately, this canvas is imageless.
Verdict
One star for Abhijit Satam’s subtle performance.

Aladin
Most stories sound interesting on paper or when narrated in 10/15 minutes flat. But when you watch the full-blown cinematic version, you realize why most Hindi films fall flat on their face.
Sujoy Ghosh's ALADIN promises the moon, but what you get is a mere flicker. This fantasy had the trappings to transport you to fantasyland, but… Seriously, Sujoy could've run his imagination wild and come up with a film that would've made the child in you jump, scream and clap with glee. But 15/20 minutes into the film and you realize that ALADIN is merely a visual spectacle. A film that lacks soul!
After having watched ALADIN, I too desire three wishes...
• Wish 1: Henceforth, actors shouldn't ask for scripts before they sign on the dotted line;
• Wish 2: Producers should act more responsibly. They shouldn't be mere moneybags, but have creative control too;
• Wish 3: Directors and writers should stop taking the intelligent viewer for granted. Will a genie appear and fulfil my wishes? I doubt!
Aladin Chatterjee [Riteish Deshmukh] lives in the city of Khwaish, an orphan who has been bullied since childhood by Kasim [Sahil Khan] and his gang. But his life changes when Jasmine [Jacqueline Fernandez] gives him a magic lamp because it lets loose the genie Genius [Amitabh Bachchan].
Desperate to grant him three wishes and seek the end of his contract with the Magic Lamp, Genius makes Aladin's life difficult until the real threat looms on the horizon: the ex-genie Ringmaster [Sanjay Dutt]. Why does Ringmaster want to kill Aladin? What is the dark secret about Aladin's past that Genius is carrying?
Let's give the credit where it's due. ALADIN starts with a bang, with the initial portions holding a lot of promise. But no sooner does the genie appears, he breaks into a song and you realize that ALADIN is no different from those mundane films churned out week after week. Sadly, ALADIN only slides downwards after this point. Sure, there're some interesting moments, but you can actually count those sequences.
The problem is not with the story, but the screenplay [also penned by Sujoy Ghosh]. It rests on absurdities. Okay, one expects absurdities in a fantasy, you can be pardoned for it, but at least they should have the power to keep you hooked. In this case, they don't!
You can't overlook two major flaws in the writing...
• One, Amitabh refrains from revealing the past to Riteish, till Sanjay Dutt arrives on the scene and spills the beans.
• Two, the flashback portion - which resulted in Riteish's parents losing their lives - is haphazard. It's not easy to comprehend.
Also, the entire track, when Amitabh loses his powers and becomes an ordinary mortal, looks gimmicky. At the same time, it looks weird when Amitabh fights an entire army of Sanju's henchmen in the end. It gets very formulaic at this point. Not just that, even the climax is ridiculous.
Sujoy Ghosh's screenplay is bad, to put it bluntly. Given the kind of stars and budget at his disposal, the director should've come up with a slick entertainer, but ALADIN comes across as a feeble clone of a poor Hollywood film. Like his last outing HOME DELIVERY, this one too is high on gloss, but low on content.
The visual effects are excellent at places, but tacky at times. Vishal-Shekhar's music is strictly okay. However, too many songs in the initial reels act as roadblocks. The cinematography is top notch.
ALADIN belongs to Riteish, who's easy on the eyes. The best part is, he looks the character and enacts it without going overboard. He's at his natural best here. Surprisingly, Amitabh Bachchan is over the top this time, which puts you off after a point. Sanjay Dutt has two standard expressions from start to end. Jacqueline Fernandez gets no scope, but she looks gorgeous nonetheless.
Ratna Pathak Shah is wasted. Ditto for Victor Banerjee. And what is a wonderful actor like Mita Vashisht doing in this film? Saahil Khan and Arif Zakaria are okay.
On the whole, ALADIN is a terrible waste of a terrific opportunity. Hugely disappointing!

In real life, if you feel your colleague is far more superior to you in intelligence, talent, charisma, efficiency, chances are you might feel the heat. Jealousy, generally, stems from there. In the process, the best of relations get strained. LONDON DREAMS, directed by Vipul Shah, talks of two musicians, thick pals actually, and how jealousy drives a wedge in their friendship.
Let's clear a few myths before discussing the positive and negative factors of this film. LONDON DREAMS is not BAIJU BAWRA. LONDON DREAMS is not ROCK ON!!, ABHIMAAN, YAARANA or SAAJAN either [a section of the industry wants us to believe that]. The truth is, LONDON DREAMS borrows from Milos Forman's brilliant film AMADEUS [1984], which was based on Salieri and Mozart's life. In fact, Suneel Darshan too had made a film based on AMADEUS called SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM [2007; Bobby Deol, Upen Patel].
LONDON In terms of execution, it wouldn't be erroneous to state that LONDON DREAMS is amongst Vipul Shah's most accomplished works to date. Also, it boasts of incredible performances by Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn. But there are hiccups too and it's these deficiencies that bog the film down!
They were childhood friends. But they had little in common except their family's connection with music. While Arjun's [Ajay Devgn] life was consumed by a passionate drive to get on stage and realize his grandfather's unfulfilled dream, Mannu [Salman Khan] was content with remaining a child at heart with no higher ambition than enjoying the good things in life.
As Arjun forges a band with Zoheb [Rannvijay Singh], Wasim [Aditya Roy Kapur] and Priya [Asin], a music enthusiast from a conservative South Indian family, far away in Punjab, music becomes a survival tool for Mannu, who takes to playing in wedding bands in his village.
Arjun gets Mannu to London and makes him a part of the band, but soon realizes he's created the biggest threat and obstacle to his own ambitions.
Mannu, with his inherent musical gift, becomes an instant darling of the crowds. Arjun's unbearable pangs of jealously and insecurity only worsen when Mannu also unwittingly woos and wins his secret love, Priya. As he battles his inner demons, Arjun slowly devises a sinister plan to destroy his best friend.
It takes time to get into Ajay's world [its Ajay who's narrating the story here]. The film moves back and forth and it's only when the two buddies, now adults, meet that you realize where the story is headed. The first hour depicts the two extreme characters - Ajay, who's an introvert and who cannot think of anything but his goal and Salman, a happy-go-lucky guy, laidback and fun-loving, least focused.
The narrative has some interesting moments in the first hour, but the actual story unravels only towards the second half. The first half, frankly, only sets things up for the explosive drama that is to follow. The wheels start moving when Ajay plays a vicious game and hatches a conspiracy to ruin his buddy's career.
It's the second hour that does the trick. You can't help but carry several sequences in your heart, even after you've made an exit from the auditorium...
• Note the scene when Salman makes four different tunes from the original tune created by Ajay. DREAMS is a complete departure from Vipul Shah's earlier outings, AANKHEN, WAQT, NAMASTEY LONDON and SINGH IS KINNG [produced by Vipul, directed by Anees Bazmee]. This film is about relationships and tends to get very real and intense, in the post-interval portions specifically. The scale of LONDON DREAMS is gigantic and the execution of concerts [it's about a band] sweeps you off your feet.
• Note the scene when Ajay meets an inebriated Salman and professes revenge, while Salman is completely clueless about Ajay's sinister plans.
• Note the scene when the band arrives in London after a 3-city concert and they're received by aggressive mediapersons.
But there're roadblocks too. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music is a downer. LONDON DREAMS is about a rock band, about music, about concerts and the music had to be the soul of the film. Unfortunately, it's not! The songs have been filmed in the most energetic fashion, but how one wishes its music was one of the strengths of the film.
Also, the film could've concluded when the two friends re-unite at the station. Adding one more song thereafter only dilutes the impact of the emotionally correct sequence that has just been witnessed. Besides, the song in question hasn't been promoted either, so it only comes across as an aberration.
Prior to that, Ajay's outburst at the end of the concert is far from convincing. The film has a real feel, real characters and real situations, but the outburst looks unreal and is one of the drawbacks, from the writing point of view. It's just not convincing!
Besides, Ajay's childhood character is shown fleeing from the airport and making it big in a foreign land [London], without any support whatsoever. It's unpalatable!
Vipul Shah has handled this intricate subject well, but the writing could've been tighter. Sejal Shah's cinematography is super. Brownie points for capturing the concerts brilliantly. Salim-Sulaiman's background score matches international standards.
Both Salman and Ajay vie for top honours. Salman has a role that the junta would take to instantly and the actor too endears himself to the viewers. He's stupendous. When it comes to displaying intensity on screen, very few can live up to the standards set by Ajay. To state that he packs in a power-packed performance would be an understatement. They, in fact, compliment each other wonderfully well.
Asin is admirable and pairs off very well with Salman. She is sure to have a new name after this film - Chennai Express [that's how Salman addresses her affectionately, all through the film]. Om Puri has a brief role. Aditya Roy Kapur is very good and registers an impact. Rannvijay Singh doesn't get much to do, except throw nasty looks at Salman. Manoj Pahwa provides some funny moments. Brinda Parekh is okay.
On the whole, LONDON DREAMS has superb performances from its principal cast and several emotionally-charged sequences as its two trump cards. But its biggest drawback is its climax and also the music, which is the weakest link of the movie. At the box-office, the film should appeal more to the multiplex audience than the masses. Business at big centres, especially at metros, should be better, but mini-metros and towns will be a contrast.

Does this mean that gone are the days of Mallika’s eye-popping sensational creations that steal headlines and fill up news and website pages? Not necessarily, says the star. “D&G has some very saucy dresses. I have a few on hold that I think my fans will like.”
This is Mallika’s first collaboration with a top designer, which also happens to be a favorite of hers. “D&G is the epitome of class. I’m very happy to be associated with the D&G brand,” she goes on to say, “We make a great team.”

Kevin Jonas and Danielle Deleasa Planning Winter Wedding, Nick Jonas Says

Earlier this week, Nick Jonas took time away from his impressive efforts on behalf of juvenile diabetes awareness to discuss another matter close to his heart:
Brother Kevin's impending nuptials to Danielle Deleasa.
During an interview with ABC News Radio, Nick peered into the future and said of his sibling's wedding:
"They have not set a date yet, but I think that it'll be sometime around the end of the year, beginning of the year - something like that."

As for his reaction when he learned Kevin had popped the question in July, Nick says his other brother saw it coming long ago, when the couple met in the Bahamas in 2007:
"Kevin and Danielle were on the beach walking, and Joe was like, 'Oh, they're gonna get married.' And then, a couple years later, they were engaged and now we're here."

Mark McLeod Labeled a "Danger" to Miley Cyrus

You really shouldn't stalk Miley Cyrus.
It's unethical, it's illegal and it just gives her something else to Twitter about.
But Mark McLeod was arrested earlier this month for allegedly following around the Hannah Montana star during a movie shoot in Savannah, Georgia. The sick nut job said Miley had been sending him "secret messages" on TV and in her music.
Fortunately, it doesn't sound as though McLeod will be coming near Cyrus again in the near future: a judge has rejected a request to reduce his $55,000 bond for release, according to the Savannah Morning News, which quoted judge Steven Scheer as saying the 53-year-old McLeod posed a potential threat.
"I can't deny him bond, but if I could I would, because I do feel he's a danger."

McLeod was also arrested in 2003 for contributing to the delinquency of a minor when he transported a girl across the Georgia/South Carolina border.
Following yesterday's hearing, McLeod's attorney, James Byrne, claimed his client - who says he's Miley's "secret husband" - wasn't a menace to anyone.
"He's been painted as this monster, but he's got a family," the lawyer said. "What he said I understand was unsettling to a lot of folks. But it doesn't make him a stalker."
What on earth would make him a stalker, Mr. Byrne?!?
Miley has taken out a temporary restraining order against McLeod. We hope he goes away for a very long time.

You've been watching Jon Minus 9 Plus 4 Mediocre Girls.
Now, get ready for Kate Plus 8 and 4 Loud Windbags!
Continuing her recent media tour, Kate Gosselin is going from celebrity gossip fodder to celebrity pundit, joining the growing list of surprisingly topical guest co-hosts for the upcoming season of popular current events gab-fest The View.
Kate will throw in her grating two cents September 14-15, when she sits in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is on maternity leave until October sometime.
TALK SHOW QUEEN: Kate Gosselin (with her bodyguard and rumored lover Steve Neild) departs CNN studios after a lonely appearance last night on Larry King Live.
The irony for Elisabeth Hasselbeck is that the conservative host offered this unsolicited (and typically riled-up) advice to Kate back in June: "get a job!"
Looks like she did. Hers. It's hard to tell which of them is more annoying.
Mrs. Gosselin joins LaToya Jackson and Meghan McCain at the table.

Ash & Bebo are now friends

Karan Johar’s birthday party was the day for reconciliation, SRK and Ash forgot their differences to become friends again and the long standing enemity between Bachchan and Kapoor parivar came to an end with Ash and Bebo becoming friends.
The beautiful duo were spotted having a good time with each other, just like two buddies who have met after a long time.
They even danced together. So do we see them doing a film together?

Aamir says don’t watch Raakh

Aamir’s first feature flick Raakh is re-releasing, but Aamir is not happy about it. Aamir is strongly backing the producers in the ongoing multiplex strike war and he feels that his film being released in multiplexes during the strike is not a good thing.
Aamir says, “Raakh is my second film and was released in 1990. Currently the person holding the rights is being opportunistic and is trying to make a quick buck by releasing the film during the strike. Also, the multiplexes might buy into the film in order to try and score a point over me and the unity of the producers. I therefore request my fans to stay away from all my films if they are released in any National Multiplex Chain during this period of struggle.”
However the people who are releasing Raakh say, “It’s a great film that deserves another chance. It’s not yet decided if we will release it in single screen theaters or multiplexes. We will do whatever is best for the film but the film has a lot of potential for single screen theaters, specially in the interiors, where they might not have multiplexes.”
So folks will you be supporting Aamir by not watching Raakh!!!

Poll of the Day

Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen has branded Deepika Padukone more beautiful than Angelina Jolie. Do you think Deepika is more beautiful than Angelina? or do you think she doesn’t even have that much beauty to get herself compared to Angelina?
Rakesh Roshan is all set to make the sequel to his last flick Krissh after he gets over with his current project Kites.
A source reveals, “After the success of ‘Krrish’, the Roshans decided to go ahead with the sequel of the movie. Their first priority was to finish with ‘Kites’ and then work on ‘Krrish 2’. ‘Kites’ is almost done and is in the post-production stage. Rakesh Roashan`s production house FilmKraft is working on ‘Krrish 2’. They are at an infant stage and still working on script and the star cast, but it obviously includes Hrithik as the actor.”
“The layout of the script is ready and it will see Hrithik in a superhero avatar once again. He will be seen saving the Seven Wonders of the World, so naturally the film will be shot extensively at various foreign locations. Hrithik will undergo physical training once again for the role. Like the prequel, this too will have SFX and a big crew of foreign technicians.”
Deepika is slated to play the role of Hrithik’s love interest in Krissh 2.

Blab Blab Blab: Is Nikki Skipping Out On Italy?

She is no longer going to Italy. She has decided to spend time with her family."

—A very in-the-know gal close to Nikki Reed. Breathe easy, Robsten lovahs, for it looks as though Kris won't have any competition for Rob's heart over in Italia. Oh, and btw, happy early birthday Ms. Reed!

Paris Hilton: Seriously, Who's Robert Pattinson?

Kristen Stewart must be feeling all better now. Not only is costar and cocompetitor Nikki Reed officially out of the running (temporarily) for Robert Pattinson's private affections, we hear professional man-launcher Paris Hilton has no interest in Rob whatsoever! Shocking, but true.

Here's what happened:

While plugging Pare-poo's latest TV endeavor, season two of MTV's My New BFF, Paris was given a break by us. Nope, we didn't want to know the exact level of hotness Hilton will no doubt be demanding from her new coterie of wannabe pals. What we wanted was all about the hot guys of summer!

Screw the new arrival of glistening boob-tube gals—let's check in on the simmering dudes:

Who's hotter, Paris: Chris Pine or Rob Pattinson?

"Who?" responded Paris, impossibly spray-tanned, eternally cheery and, yes, utterly bubbly (guess life with Doug Reinhardt hasn't reared it's painful head, just yet).

Which one's hotter?
Who are they?

Uh, the guy from Star Trek and the guy from Twilight.
I don't know them. I really don't.

OK, then.

So, Ms. Stewart, even though you supposedly still have that BF, Michael Angarano, around (and I voted for Prop 8), I'd still say your chances of eternal and personal off-camera bliss are decidedly better without man-connoisseurs P. Hilton and N. Reed in the pic. Trust me on this.

Kris Allen Wins American Idol!

After two hours of duets, surprise guests, a few ghosts of auditions past and plenty of good cheer—not to mention 16 weeks of sweat, tears and song—a new American Idol was crowned Wednesday to cap off the eighth season of the most-watched show on TV.

On one side, we had 27-year-old Adam Lambert, the polished (and we don't just mean his nails), mascara'd, perfectly poised arena-ready rocker with the infinite range.

And on the other, 23-year-old Kris Allen, somewhat of a dark-horse contestant, despite his universally appealing cutie-pie looks and radio-friendly warble.

But even though history has shown us that both guys are probably due for bigger and less clichéd things, only one ended up in that solo spotlight tonight, clutching the brand-new Idol microphone trophy.

And after a record 100 million votes were cast, it was Kris Allen who was left standing in open-mouthed shock 'n' awe because he had found out he was the next American Idol.

"It feels good, man, but Adam deserves this," the Conway, Ark., native protested. "I don't know what to feel right now, this is crazy."

So that's what utter disbelief sounds like.

"Ah, I don't even know," Allen stuttered as Ryan Seacrest handed over the championship trophy. "Thank you—you guys are the reason that all of us are here," he told the audience.

The still-smiling Lambert, the consummate pro already, stepped up to give his compatriot a congratulatory hug, as Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi applauded in, well, surprise. (By the way, they stood up. Simon Cowell didn't.)

But before we leave you to hash this out among yourselves, here's a quick rundown of some of the high points from the eighth-season finale:

• Adam and Kris dueting on Queen's "We Are the Champions." 'Cause, really, they are, aren't they?

Megan Joy and Michael Sarver singing the Steve Martin-penned "Pretty Flowers," accompanied by Martin and his banjo. 'Nuff said. When asked by Ryan who he thought was going to win, Martin said, "I know it's a long shot, but I'm hoping I do.

A subdued David Cook stopping by to perform "Permanent," from his self-titled debut album, which the emotional rocker sang "to honor not only [his] brother, but everybody who has had to deal with something like this." Cook's older brother, Adam, lost his battle with brain cancer earlier this month. The video of the performance will be available on iTunes, with all proceeds going to cancer-research charity ABC2 (Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure).

Danny Gokey being paired with Lionel Richie. Sure, Danny was saddled with "Hello," which was one of Cook's shining moments last year. But at least it sounded really good.

• Kris and Keith Urban. That's about right.

And some of the lows:

• The Top 13 reuniting for Pink's "So What" in those all-white outfits the dozen (this year, a baker's dozen) have to wear each season. This is what the gates of heaven must be like when you're being informed that you took a wrong turn at the celestial escalator.

Just when we thought the mass "na-na-na-na na-na-na" was freaky enough, there were the top seven guys—all clad in Reservoir Dog suits— coming at us, inquiring "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." (The eventual arrival of Rod Stewart to sing "Maggie May" helped a bit.)

• Adam (sporting some studded, wire-wing epaulet-thingies) getting matched with Kiss for his big duet. Where's Bowie when you need him?

• The Top 13 reuniting yet again for "Smooth," which it wasn't. We tried to focus on Santana's guitar playing in the meantime.

A tie for both high and low:

• A bikini (and shirt-dress)-clad Kara joining Katrina "Bikini Girl" Darrell on Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love." Yes, Kara can hold her own in a bikini. But wouldn't it have better proved Kara's point if the two had never made peace?

What a season, eh? Could you be more surprised? Or did you know that Kris had it in him all along?

Booo!

No, we aren't protesting which deserving-in-his-own-way finalist ultimately won. We're just bummed that American Idol is over for the year.

Terminator Salvation's Debut: Good, Bad, T-riffic?

The news: Terminator Salvation grossed an estimated $13.3 million yesterday. The bottom line: to be determined.

In the rundown of Hollywood's biggest opening days, Salvation's doesn't make the Top 100. Among Thursday openers, the $200 million explosion extravaganza barely cracks the Top 20.

Still, Box Office Mojo's Brandon Gray called the debut "a very good number" that left a projected $70 millionish Memorial Day weekend a possibility.

"Terminator Salvation wasn't as big as Terminator 3, relatively speaking," Gray said today, "but it was still strong considering that Terminator 3 wasn't well liked, and the new picture lacks the iconic figure from the franchise."

Arnold Schwarzenegger, who menaced and befriended the Connor clan in the first three Terminator movies, is only briefly back in the new Christian Bale movie.

Amy Winehouse Hospitalized, Nixes Homecoming Show

Just when they thought she was in, they pulled her back out.

In what is likely a surprise to no one, Amy Winehouse has canceled plans to perform in London next week in what would have been her first U.K. appearance of the year.

The concert, scheduled to take place May 31, was one of many gigs planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her label, Island Records. It was due to be the final show of the weeklong celebration.

"Amy Winehouse's management has regretfully announced that Amy and her band will no longer be performing at the Shepherd's Bush Empire," her rep said in a statement.

"Amy would like to apologize to her fans who bought tickets for the shows."

No reason was given for the cancellation, though yesterday Britain's Press Association reported that Winehouse was taken to the hospital with chest pains.

While her hospitalization came in the wake of a fainting spell, the singer's management claimed she was simply dehydrated and released shortly thereafter.

It's the second time this month the singer's rep has blamed a fainting spell for a doctor's visit. It's also the second time this month that the Grammy winner has backed out of a performance.

Winehouse prematurely ended a concert in her adopted home of St. Lucia, blaming poor weather conditions.

Refunds will be made available to ticket holders for the homecoming show.

No doubt all the drama is being captured by cameras, as the 25-year-old announced on her MySpace blog Tuesday (in a posting that has since been deleted) that she is being followed for Saving Amy—what promises to be a particularly raw documentary from interviewer Daphne Barak, which will be released later this year.

"Amy and her family will be the subject of a new documentary later this year," the announcement read. "The journalist spent time with Amy and her family recently on St. Lucia, and in true honest to goodness Amy style, the doc will be a truthful and revealing look at her complicated lifestyle."

In the meantime, Winehouse continues to work on her third album, which she is recording in the Caribbean.

Scrubs: Is Sarah Chalke Returning?

Is the quirky and adorable Dr. Elliot Reid scrubbing back in for the ninth season of the hit ABC series?
The short answer? She's still not sure. But the long answer is more fun anyway, right?
The lovely Sarah Chalke is one busy lady. She's making the rounds promoting her new Lifetime miniseries, Maneater. She's still a shoo-in to drop by CBS's How I Met Your Mother. And, unfortunately, she's also still up in the air about that offer to return to ABC's just-renewed Scrubs.
"I actually don't know yet what I'm going to do, but I will very soon. You guys will be the first to know," says Sarah. "Regardless, I'm excited that the show got picked up again and it's going to go another year."
So there you have it. Nothing set in stone yet, but what Sarah said next about what was presumed to be the series finale of Scrubs and where she might end up next may surprise you...
A big reason Sarah might be hesitant to sign that season nine contract? Her new Lifetime miniseries, Maneater, is already being considered to go the way of Debra Messing's, The Starter Wife, and be made into a series of its own.
Sarah spills, "I think the setup on Maneater kinds of lends itself to that because you've got the close group of girlfriends, sort of a Sex and the City." (More on Maneater next week.)
Since the eighth-season ender of Scrubs was intended to be the last, the finale finally gave the fans the Jelliot conclusion we always wanted—and Sarah agrees. "I loved the finale. I'm a romantic at heart and I always thought J.D. and Elliot should end up together, I was really happy with how things ended up." Ditto!
What about the series finale as a whole? "It was really cool getting to see a little bit into the future. And I loved that all of guest stars came back. To have that day where you have a hallway of people who had guest-starred over the years, it really was a walk down memory lane."
We know that many of you have mixed feelings about the show coming back with a new format and different characters in place of our old faves, but Sarah is just grateful that the show we all knew and loved was able to bow-out at all.
"After the writers' strike we didn't know what was going to happen. We thought it might just end on some random, middle of the season episode that would just be it for Scrubs forever," the actress explains. "That would have been such a tough way to have it end. The fact that we got to finish up that season and do a whole eighth felt like such a gift. Bill got to really end the show the way he wanted."
And unlike that show about the town on a hill with one, single tree—ahem, we won't name names—Sarah is nothing but grateful for everything Scrubs has done for her. "It was the best job I've had. I got it two months after I moved down here so a huge piece of my L.A. experience has been on Scrubs. We all felt that we were lucky to have that rare combination of enjoying your character and loving the writing, but also really liking the people you work with."
Sarah's not counting out working with some of her Scrubs costars in the future either, including The Janitor's new ABC series, The Middle. "Neil Flynn is one of the funniest people I've ever worked with. I would love to guest on his show and I'm very excited for him that it got picked up."
Yes, we admit that it sounds as if she's feeling good about finishing up Scrubs and moving on, but we'll just have to wait and see where Sarah ends up on our TV's next season. One thing's for sure, we'll definitely be able to find her somewhere—even if it's not in our favorite fictional hospital.

Bipasha doesn’t mind being out of Race

Bipasha Basu sizzled and fizzled in Abbas-Mustan’s hit flick Race, however she has not been approached for the movie’s sequel, apparently even original directors Abbas-Mustan are also not interested in a sequel to Race instead they are interested in reviving their shelved project Mr.Fraud.

Bipasha says, “If Mr Fraud is revived I’d be happy to give dates. The film was shot in London and the styling was not time bound.”

“I heard even Abbas-Mustan are not doing Race 2. If the original directors are not doing the sequel, who am I? I haven’t been approached for Race 2. That’s fine. In Bollywood the heroines are never signed for sequels. It’s a tradition . Just check the sequels. The guys get repeated. The girls don’t. It’s a man’s world.I don’t feel like a second citizen for that. When Raaz 2 was made everyone kept asking why I wasn’t in it. But I never worried about that. No point in crying about it.”

“I don’t want do any more work than my pace allows me. I don’t want to compete with anybody. I’ve made a niche right from my first film. I’m Bipasha Basu. I don’t think there’s any replacement for that. I enjoy my work. But there so much more my vocation as an actor than just acting. I can do stage shows, be a businesswoman, work for social causes.I keep busy 24 by 7. At this stage of my life I don’t need to sit and pine for a role.”

So folks do you think Race2 can rock without Bipasha Basu?

Sonam Kapoor to walk Cannes red carpet

Sonam Kapoor is maha excited, the reason she would be seen walking the red carpet at Cannes flaunted by bevy of beauties like Penelope Cruz, Eva Longoria and Aishwarya Rai as all of them are the brand ambassadors of L’Oreal.

Sonam says, “Being on the same platform as Aishwarya, for me, is a big deal in itself. I have always adored her but met her only once, during the Delhi 6 premiere.”

She is not worried by the scrutinizing eyes of Fashionista’s back home who never leave a chance to criticize Aishwarya’s clothes, she says,“I’m aware and I’m confident I’ll carry off the Indian outfits I’m taking there by Anamika, Manish and Gaurav with ease. I’ll also be dressed by an international designer for one event.”
“I’ve never been to Paris or any other part of France, except through books. I used to transport myself to these lovely destinations through my reading. It’s a dream come true for me.”

Sonam will be accompanied by her dad Anil Kapoor, to the Cannes.

Priyanka and I are friends: Shahid

Shahid Kapoor is not an inch worried about the recent Saif-Bebo episode, where they accused him of using their name for publicity, instead he is keeping a low profile so that his work speaks for him.

Ask him about his next release Kaminey and he says, “Yup, Vishal Bharadwaj says my role is going to definitely surprise the audience. It is a hugely challenging role, very different from Jab We Met, and though JWM is the reason why Vishal signed me for Kaminey —both roles are poles apart.’’

When the focus shifts on his alleged girlfriend Priyanka he says, “I’m not left with much of a choice, am I? I’m linked to all my co-stars. With Kismat Konnection it was Vidya Balan, now with Kaminey it is Priyanka.’’

“Priyanka and I are good friends. However, people have been jumping the gun. If we take our relationship further, I may talk about it; but people are in a rush to link us together. I will not lie or hide a relationship but I will not stand on the rooftop and announce it either.’’

Priyanka takes Shahid’s side, snubs Bebo

Remember, few days back we informed you about Saif-Kareena accusing Shahid of using their name for garnering publicity for his movies and Kareena also went on to say, “”Shahid should move on.”

When leggy lass Priyanka Chopra who was out unveiling the website of her upcoming movie Pyaar Impossible was asked about the same, Priyanka took Shahid’s side and gave Bebo a good reply.

She said, “Kaminey is directed by Vishal Bharadwaj whose directorial credentials don’t need any introduction and it is produced by UTV which is amongst the best production houses in the country today. I have seen the film and I feel it’s a brilliant piece of work. All those who will see the film will definitely love it. We as the team of Kaminey are extremely well equipped and capable of publicizing the film and don’t require any outside help for the same.”

Kareena Says Move on Shahid

While Kareena always remained silent about her break-up with Shahid Kapoor. She has had enough of it now as she has broken the long maintained silence.
Although its two years since they broke up, whenever there is a talk about Shahid, Kareena’s and Saif name is bound to come up.
A friend of Kareena says, ” Kareena has been quietly watching the tamaasha unfold. Lately, almost every time Shahids name cropped up she too was mentioned , and not in a positive manner. To portray her as the restless woman who jilted Shahid for Saif is so unfair . Only Kareena and Shahid know what really happened to tear them apart.
The day Kareena opens her mouth, Shahids image of injured innocence will collapse in a heap. But Kareena is not one to wash dirty linen in public. She wishes Shahid well and would like nothing better than for both of them to move on. Kareena has moved on but the same cannot be said about Shahid.”
Constant comparision between Saif and Shahid is also on rise, with a buzz that Shahid has done a fabulous job in Kaminey, better than the original choice - Saif.
Saif reacting on the story says, “Normally, I wouldnt go by any conspiracy theory. But this does seem a little too much. Why are Kareena and I dragged into other peoples lives If someone talks about Kaminey, then Im forced to say the role was first offered to me. But do we have to resort to this silly game of oneupmanship Were all mature adults here and we should behave accordingly. “
Kareena however makes a bold and rude statement after a news channel recently aired an hour-long show about how Kareena is out to destroy Shahid’s love life, saying, “Why am I being dragged into all this I dont like my name to come up in connection with other peoples lives. Ive moved on and I wish Shahid Kapur would also do so. Beyond that I dont wish to say anything. Nothing can separate Saif and me. Certainly not these silly attempts to drag me back to a past Ive left behind. Please leave us alone.
